OAKLAND ROOTED COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS

We partner with over 10 community groups in Oakland to distribute our meals. Our nonprofit community partners are the true frontline heroes, bringing our meals directly to shut-in seniors and our unhoused community and serving our community with dignity and love. Our “Meals Plus” model means our quality meals are bridges to providing a range of other services including medical, sanitation, water, essential supplies and other homeless services.

“We connect all these programs to the people. We go out and distribute the food. Whether it’s the chef, whether it’s the caterer, we’re all part of food justice and we’re all helping to alleviate food insecurity. ”

— Candice Elder, Executive Director and Founder of The East Oakland Collective

Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation Partnership

In 2022 we started providing locally sourced restaurant meals for the Eat. Learn. Play. Bus, a visionary approach to bringing books, food and fun to youth in Oakland, a project conceived by Stephen and Ayesha Curry's Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation.

“We're grateful to have community partners like Community Kitchens who can help us advance our mission to provide kids and families with the nutritious food they need to thrive.”

Oakland Parks & Recreation Foundation Partnership

Partnered with Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation, Community Kitchens launched Kitchens Around the World family meal program for kids attending our beloved Town Camp youth summer program. Our meals helped address food insecurity, while teaching kids about different cultures through food.

“We’re proud to support Kitchens Around the World as a way to help Oakland children, lift local businesses and promote the multicultural diversity of our beautiful city.”

— Terra Cole Brown, Executive Director of Oakland Parks & Recreation Foundation
